It is now almost fifty years since C.S. Lewis’s death. He thought that his influence would soon wane and his books go out of print. He was wrong. His books are all in print and his influence is global, far beyond the English-speaking world. He is known for many things but particularly for making a clear case for faith in Christ to nonbelievers and believers. Because of the Narnia films, many have become interested in Lewis and some are open to studying his ideas. This video series is meant to be the introduction for a small group study on C.S. Lewis’s arguments against unbelief and for faith. Above all, it should be remembered that C.S. Lewis would not want people to focus on him but on Jesus.

On June 8th, 1941 C.S. Lewis delivered a sermon in Oxford on “The Weight of Glory.” This weight shaped Lewis’s perspective of humanity and his own calling and place in the world. The vividness by which Lewis perceived the potential eternal destinies of every man and woman compelled him to direct a great part of his energies towards the saving of souls. Lewis sacrificed his own comfort and academic and professional advancement in order to help others know and experience God’s love in Jesus Christ.

God is always at work (John 5:17). He is redeeming lost people and restoring his fallen creation, and he invites us in Christ to join him in his work. As a follower of Jesus, you are on God’s redemption and restoration team. In order to respond to this call, you must step out of your ordinary world, over the threshold of your comfort zone, and enter his life-changing adventure. Those who respond to this call are transformed and equipped to bring gifts of His healing to their world.

Dr. Robert Coleman has for many years been recognized as one of the world’s authorities on discipleship and evangelism. He is the author of over 20 books, including The Master Plan of Evangelism, about which Billy Graham said, “Few books have had as great an impact on the cause of world evangelization in our generation…”

In this six-part video series, Dr. Jerry Root addresses how C.S. Lewis shared his faith, and offers various applications that build on his ideas. He also shares how he has been able to share Christ with people by using some of Lewis’ concepts. Root explains that he is moved when he realizes that if listeners apply some of these concepts there will be people in heaven forever because of what they do.
